Why you should not tackle a wasp nest yourself

Aerosol cans do not reach the core of a loft nest, and the first spray often brings workers out towards you. Falls, stings and incomplete treatment are the usual result.

Access

Many nests sit in soffits, cavity walls or roof voids. Reaching them needs the right ladder, dust or foam, and a way out.

Protective kit

A veil and gloves are not optional if you are standing in the flight line. Householders rarely have that kit.

Incomplete jobs

Killing the wasps you see leaves brood in the comb. Activity can restart. A technician treats the nest, not the air around it.
