Where mice enter and how to proof against them

Mice follow warmth and food. They use pipe holes, meter boxes, air bricks and the gap under a back door. Proofing those points after treatment is what stops the next litter.

Kitchen and utility

Gaps around waste pipes, dishwasher hoses and the cooker space are favourites. A steel wool and sealant mix, or a proper escutcheon, works better than foam alone.

Outside

Damaged air bricks, rotten fascia and ivy against the wall give cover. Keep bins closed and bird feed off the ground.

Shared buildings

In flats, mice travel service risers. Proofing one kitchen without the void above it often fails.

After the visit

We will point out the holes that matter. Blocking them yourself is fine if you use rodent-resistant materials.
